Santa visits Mahaffie

Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm – Christmas Open House
Saturday, December 3 – 10:00am to 4:00pm

Kick off your holiday season with a visit to Mahaffie! String popcorn and cranberries, make an ornament and see what is cooking on the cookstove. FREE admission! (a small fee applies to some activities) Suggested donation of $2/adults, $1/child ages 5-11. Activities may include: music, visiting the Mahaffie House, stagecoach rides for $3/person ages 3 & up. Activities take place at the Heritage Center and the historic Mahaffie grounds.

Adventure to Santa – a DreakWorks DreamPlace is a one-of-a-kind interactive Santa adventure. This year, families will make the journey with the help of a mischievous and hungry panda in this all-new adventure featuring the cast of Kung Fu Panda.

Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops 
November 12-December 24
Head to your local Bass Pro Shop (Independence or Olathe) for photos with Santa, games, crafts, and activities for the kids!

Santa Claus Express on the Midland Railway 
November 25-December 11
Take a train ride with Santa Claus on the Santa Claus Express! See Santa in his own decorated passenger car (built in 1898), enjoy hot drinks and fresh baked sugar cookies and take pictures of your kids in their favorite pajamas.

Santa Arrives at Crown Center 
November 25 – 10 a.m.
Santa Claus arrives in a horse-drawn carriage to kick off the holiday season. Join Santa as he makes his way to Santa’s Gingerbread Station, where he resides through December 24.

Kansas City Parks’ Santa’s Wonderlands 
December 2-3
Join family and friends at one of two local parks for a festive celebration of the holiday season! Events include live music, entertainment with the Rockin’ Rob Show, light displays, and a visit from Santa Claus. Dates, times, and locations are as follows:

  • December 2, 6-8 p.m.: Gillham Park
  • December 3, 5:30-8 p.m.: Penguin Park

Holiday Party at the North Kansas City Community Center 
December 2 – 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
Get in the holiday spirit and celebrate with your neighbors at the North Kansas City Community Center! There will be entertainment, arts and crafts projects, refreshments and holiday goodies. Children will visit and take pictures with Santa, and each pre-registered youth ages 15 and under will receive a gift!

Visit with Santa at Zona Rosa 
December 3-24
Santa will greet children and listen to their holiday wishes in this popular storybook scene in The Grove at Zona Rosa. Santa makes his formal arrival at Zona Rosa at 6 p.m. on December 2 with a fun pajama party for the whole family!

Holiday Wild at the Kansas City Zoo 
December 3-4 | 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Zoo patrons will have an opportunity to meet Santa, participate in holiday activities, follow along on guided tours, and more. Friends of the Zoo (FOTZ) members can arrive on December 3 between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. for an exclusive breakfast snack and meet-and-greet with Santa! You can also catch Santa diving inside the cold weather penguin exhibit at 2 p.m. and a penguin march outside at 11 a.m.

Breakfast with St. Nicholas at Strawberry Hill Museum 
December 3 – 8-11 a.m.
A $10 fee includes breakfast, a visit with St. Nicholas and one picture.

A Visit from St Nicholas at Shoal Creek Living History Museum 
December 3 – 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Enjoy a visit with St Nicholas in the Thornton Mansion after taking a walking tour through the museum’s holiday decorated homes and log cabins which are brought to life with re-enactors in 19th century theme. Horse-drawn sleigh rides through the countryside will be provided 12-4 p.m.

A Country School Christmas 
December 3 – 1-3 p.m.
Santa Claus, carols, and local storyteller Joyce Slater will bring their holiday cheer to the Lanesfield Historic Site, 18745 S Dillie Road, Edgerton, Kansas (Johnson County). Santa will give out holiday treats and listen to the holiday wishes of visitors alongside holiday caroling from the Edgerton Rainbow Connection Children’s Choir. Visitors will also have the opportunity to write letters to Santa and make an ornament to take home.

Cookies with Santa at Lee’s Summit PLAY 
December 4 & 8, 3-5 p.m.
Enjoy cookies and open play at Lee’s Summit’s newest gathering place for families. Tickets available now!

Whoville Holidays at the City Market 
December 10-11, 17-18 – 10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Meet the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who in the warmth of Cindy Lou’s Whoville home at the City Market. Bring in three or more non-perishable canned goods for the “Help a Who” promotion benefiting our partners at Harvesters or a new, unwrapped children’s toy benefiting the Salvation Army.

KC Southern Holiday Express Visits Union Station 
December 16-20
Our kids are bound to have fond memories of coming to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus, then hopping aboard the Holiday Express at Christmas time. The Southern Holiday Express (or Rudy, as it is known by many of its visitors!) is parked on the north side of Union Station and guests can walk through the train cars decorated in creative holiday paraphernalia. This event is free and open to the public; no tickets are required.
