WATCH: People wait in line for 12 hours at new In-N-Out Burger restaurant

(Meredith/CNN) — Can you imagine waiting nearly 12 hours just to get your hands on a hamburger?

Many people did just that at a new In-n-Out Burger in Aurora, Colorado on Friday, waiting in the long lines for hours to have their order taken at the much anticipated national burger chain.

The event comes ahead of the start of new coronavirus restrictions that will close indoor dining for restaurants in multiple counties across the state.

The restrictions are due to a surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations and cases.

Aurora police were on traffic control in an attempt to handle the line of cars snaking around the area.
