KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) — A man was killed and two other people were hospitalized overnight in two separate shootings a few miles from each other in Kansas City, according to police.
Two people were shot near a 7-11 gas station at Independence Avenue and Benton Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. One of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries, while the other had non-life-threatening injuries. Police had no information on a suspect.
One person was shot and made their way outside a Quiktrip at Truman Road and Winchester Avenue around 3:55 a.m. They were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died, according to police. Police had no suspect information on that shooting either.
That death puts the number of homicides for Kansas City at 141 for the year, more than the entire year of 2018. At this time last year, Kansas City had 111 homicides.
